Saharawi representative in Washington, Mouloud
Said, declared on the eve of the opening of the second round of the negotiations between POLISARIO Front and Morocco, that he does no believe ‘‘in the good will of Morocco’’ and fears that Rabat’s tergiversations, intransigence and delaying manœuvre lead to ‘‘the impasse and fail’’ the negotiations launched last June 18 and 19 under the auspices of the UN.

"The different statement by the Moroccan government push us to be pessimistic" regarding the results of these negotiations planed for this August the 10 and 11th in Manhasset, near New York, the Saharawi diplomat asserted to the Algerian Press Service, APS.

He hoped, however, "that Morocco profits of this opportunity to advance in the sense of a solution that respects not only the international legality but also the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination".

"Any solution that does not respect the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination will not be accepted by the Saharawi people", he stressed, affirming that the "diktat and the rushing ahead adopted by Rabat will not serve in reaching a solution for peace and stability in the region of the Maghreb’’.

Some analyst in Washington, APS journalist said, had already expected a rupture in the negotiations exactly because of the intransigence of Morocco and its attempts to impose its plan of autonomy as the only alternative to the resolution of the conflict. The Saharawi representative declared that POLISARIO Front is willing to go to the negotiations this Friday and Saturday "with the best intentions and will".

"If break in the dialogue there will be, it will be because of the position of the kingdom of Morocco that looks only for the consecration of its occupation of Western Sahara, in violation to the UN’s resolutions, which call to the organisation of a referendum on self-determination that includes independence as an option", he said.

Regarding the America position of these negotiations that are taking place on its ground, he stressed that there are some forces within the US Administration that support the Moroccan position and try to push the government of Bush to a position that is in complete violation to the international legality.

"This alignment on the position of Rabat can not advance the search for a politic and diplomatic solution, because any solution that does not respect the will of the Saharawi people will be vouched to failure. It will not be a solution for the Saharawi people and Saharawi people will not accept to be a party to it", he underlined.
