Commemoration of the 37 anniversary of the Zemla uprising on Sunday in Mheiriz

Polisario Front commemorates, on Sunday in Mheiriz region (South East- Western Sahara), the 37th anniversary of the historical Zemla uprising that took place in 1970 against the Spanish occupation and resulted in dozens injured victims, detainees and the disappearance of the leader of the Saharawi movement of liberation then, Sidi Brahim Bassiri.

The event coincides with the annual conference of administration and the annual conference of the cadres of the political orientation of POLISARIO Front, which will be marked by the presence of the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, the Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Oumar, members of the POLISARIO National Secretariat and national cadres, it was indicated.

Among the activities planed for as part of the festivities that take place 90 Km east the occupied city of Smara, the Saharawi spiritual capital, Saharawi nomads in the region of Zemmour organise their annual meeting in the liberated zone of their country where they discuss their main problems and concerns.

Historical presentations on the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, the peaceful struggle led by the Saharawi citizens in the territory of Western Sahara under Moroccan occupation and other presentations on the last developments of the struggle for liberation are also programmed during the four days of this encounter, the organisers indicated.
