POLISARIO Front becomes observing member in the Socialist International

The Socialist International (SI) granted POLISARIO Front the status of observing member during the 23rd conference of the international organisation, held Monday in Lagonissi, in Athena.

After a debate marked by interventions of many members of the SI, who defended the new status given to POLISARIO, and expressed their solidarity with the Saharawi peopleís legitimate struggle for freedom. The majority of the members voted for the decision. The only exception was the Moroccan socialist party. .

By becoming an observing member of the SI, POLISARIO will enjoy more support from the member of the organisation, and a better engagement of the SI in favour of a just solution to the conflict conforming to the international legality.

The Socialist International (SI) gathers more than 169 political parties and Organisations world wide, it should be recalled.

Accompanied by POLISARIO Frontís representative in Rome, Omar Mih, The Saharawi delegation that participated to the conference was chaired by the Saharawi Minister delegated to Europe, Mohamed Sidati, who expressed his satisfaction about the decision.

"The Saharawi people have just achieved a real and clear political and diplomatic success that will support their legitimate struggle for self-determination and independence".
